How to navigate the maps
There are several methods of navigating the maps. Around each map are several small triangles; these can be used to move around the map in the compass direction represented by each of the triangles. Simply click on these, and the map will be reloaded to reflect the new location.
A scale bar is shown to the right of the map, showing the level at which you have zoomed in to the map. The scales at which you can zoom are optimised for each map. In order to change scale, you simply click on the desired scale icon and the map will be reloaded to reflect the chosen scale at the same location.
There are a number of extra tools available for navigating the map. These are in the form of buttons displayed below the map image:
The first button, represented by a magnifying glass, is used to zoom in to the map. Clicking on this button will change your mouse pointer to a cross when you move over the map image. Simply click on this button, then click and hold your mouse on the map and move the mouse to draw a box over the map. The map will then be reloaded and will rescale to approximately show only the area that you have drawn a box around.
The second button, represented by four small triangles, is the pan tool. This allows you to click on any point of the map image, and the map will be reloaded with the point at which you clicked at the centre of the new map image.
The final button, represented as an italicised letter "i", is the information tool. By clicking on this, you can search for policies on the map that are relevant to the location you have clicked on. Simply click on this button, then click at any location on the map image, the map will then reload, and a list will appear over the top of the map showing a list of the policies relevant to that location. The policies listed are linked to the relevant text in written statement.
